Pastoral Note—GraceWorks Donation Drive

Dear Cornerstone Family,

For the Pastoral Notes today, I’ve asked our Children’s Ministry Director, Mrs. Bethany Holder, to share more about Cornerstone’s donation drive and packing party.

When Jesus was asked what it means to love our neighbor, he told the story of the Good Samaritan. It is a story that many of us are rather familiar with—a man who saw someone in need, stopped, and took action to help him. This act of compassion points us toward the love and compassion shown to us on the cross, as our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ died so that we might live. Now, because he first loved us, we are called to love and serve others, not to earn God’s favor, but in response to the grace that we have received in Christ.

Our preschool through 6th grade students have spent the last 4 weeks diving into this story and learning what it means for us to love our neighbors here in Franklin, TN. As our students grow in understanding of God’s grace, we want to help them look for opportunities to share his love with others. In that effort, Cornerstone is holding a special donation drive in support of GraceWorks Ministry! From now until October 14, we will collect items for hygiene kits for GraceWorks Food Bank to distribute to those in need of assistance.

Then on the evening of Wednesday, October 14 following the Midweek meal, we will gather as a church body at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel for the kick-off to our packing party to assemble the hygiene kits. Children, parents, and brothers and sisters in Christ, will all come together as one body to love our neighbors as ourselves.

If you are unable to join us for the packing party on October 14, you’ll be missed but you can still participate by bringing in donations over the next week and a half! Here are the items that are needed for each of the kits:

  • Shampoo

  • Conditioner

  • Bar of soap

  • Deodorant

  • Toothbrush (adult)

  • 5oz Toothpaste

  • Gallon Size Ziplock Bags

(Full size items only, no travel sizes please.)
