Who We Are
Cornerstone Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God in the Gospel together as disciples who make disciples
We are first and foremost a Worshipping Community.
Because God is the Creator and Redeemer of all things, man’s highest aspiration and calling in life is to magnify God in worship. This is why the community of Cornerstone is singular in purpose: to glorify and enjoy God. We believe that everything we are and do as God’s people should lead to, and flow from, the worship of God.
We are a Relational Community.
Because God has united us to Himself in Christ Jesus, and made us to live in unity with Him and other Christians, it is our distinct privilege and calling to live in community with one another. We are committed to being a Christ founded and focused community, patterning our lives after the perfect community enjoyed by God in the Trinity, and extended to us in Christ through the gospel.
We are a Discipling Community.
God saved us to be conformed into the image of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Through Word, sacrament, prayer, and community, we are to grow in grace and likeness to Christ together. We believe that everyone is called to be a disciple of Christ and make disciples for Christ, encouraging the mutual growth and sanctification of the whole body.
We are a Serving Community.
Because Christ Jesus came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom, disciples of Christ should serve in the gospel in the same manner as Christ. We believe service is characteristic of the Christian. Giving away our time, talents, and treasure in love to Christ and one another is the normal pattern for the Christian life.
We are a Missional Community.
Because God sent his beloved Son into the fallen world for the purpose of redeeming mankind and reconciling all things in the gospel, he has made us to be a missionary people. We believe that every Christian has been sent by Jesus in the power of the Spirit to carry out the mission of the gospel in the world—to bring redemption and reconciliation into every area of life until the revelation of Jesus Christ at the end of time.
What We Believe
We Are Christian
Cornerstone Presbyterian Church affirms, together with all three major branches of Christianity and all orthodox Christians throughout history, the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon, believing them to be faithful expressions of what Scripture teaches about who God is, what he has done, and what he is doing and will do in the world. You can read these creedal statements at the links below.
We Are Reformed and Presbyterian
Among Protestants, we believe the best expression of what Scripture teaches is to be found in what we call the Westminster Standards. Each of our pastors and elders take vows to uphold and teach the doctrine contained in these standards, so this is the fullest and most accurate statement of our faith. Our church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
We Are Protestant
Cornerstone affirms the principles of the Protestant Reformation, also known as the Five Solas of the Reformation: Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, accomplished by the finished work of Christ alone, and authoritatively communicated to us through Scripture alone, all to God's glory alone.
