Pastoral Notes for Sunday, September 6, 2026
Dear Cornerstone Family,
The last two weeks in adult Sunday School we explored the topic of friendship in the Christian life. If you want to continue reflecting on the topic, stop by the Cornerstone bookshelf in the Fellowship Hall and pick up Made For Friendship by Drew Hunter. It’s a new book that sets forward a biblical view of friendship while providing practical guidance for building and keeping friends over the long haul.
Speaking of friendship, two friends of Cornerstone are with us today. Rev. Chase Daws, Reformed University Fellowship Minister at Vanderbilt, and Rev. Kevin Twit, Reformed University Fellowship Minister at Belmont, will be ministering to us. Rev. Daws will preach for us, and Rev. Twit will give a mission report and lead our youth Sunday School class.
Since our founding in 2011, Cornerstone has actively supported our denomination’s campus ministry, Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). The vision of RUF is to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve. There are 200+ RUF chapters across the U.S. with an estimated 20,000 students involved in the ministry. RUF has grown by 32% since 2022 and continues to lead the way in raising up the next generation of leaders—pastors, church planters, etc.—in our denomination.
