Worship Notes and Bulletin for Sunday, May 11, 2014

As we move into Luke 19, themes of stewardship, fruitfulness and the eternal work of Christ are all part of this passage. We begin with the Call to Worship from Psalm 116 and the grace and mercy of the Lord to whom our souls return in rest but also to whom we fulfill our vows and obligations. The opening hymn, Now Unto Jehovah (Psalm 29), reminds us of our privilege to bring to the Lord glory and honor even as we recognize His continued sustaining and governing of His creation. Psalm 135: Exalt the Lord, His Praise Proclaim, speaks of our service to our great God.Genesis 2 & Ephesians 2 both address the issue of work and responsibility. The Confession of Sin from Jeremiah 17 confronts our proclivity to trust in our own strength instead of truly being fruitful by trusting in the Lord.

The Communion Hymns, Rock of Ages and Not What My Hands Have Done direct us to the finished work of Christ as the only source and substance of our salvation. We conclude with All for Jesus as a prayer that all we do would be in service to the King of kings.
