Worship Notes and Bulletin for Sunday, May 4, 2014

With this passage from Luke 18, Jesus draws our attention to blindness—both spiritual and physical—and the faith needed to be able to see clearly. We begin with the Call to Worship from Psalm 28 for He has heard the sound of our pleas for mercy and He is our strength and our refuge. With Come, Thou Fount, we again speak of the never ceasing streams of mercy that call us to praise for His redeeming grace. There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy reminds us that there is healing in the blood of Christ that call us to a place of rest at His feet.The New Testament Reading from Romans 5 speaks of our justification by faith into the grace by which we stand. The Prayer of Confession from Isaiah 42 causes us to reflect upon our spiritual blindness and our need for Christ to renew us in Him so that we may see rightly.

The final hymn, Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken, is a prayer in the hope of the fruition of faith leading to sight and our prayers to praise.
