“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”—John 15:8
The Lord Jesus gave the church the responsibility to teach and prepare men and women, boys and girls, as followers and disciples of Christ. A disciple is one who sits at the feet of Jesus, who knows Him, and who heeds the call of Jesus to follow Him (Luke 10:39; Mark 1:16-20; Luke 9:59-62).
At Cornerstone we desire to be and to make disciples. In reality, all that we do teaches and disciples us, but there are some areas of church life such as Sunday school, men’s and women’s Bible studies, and parish life teams that are especially designed for training and growth. In order to fulfill our calling and to stay on mission, may we all “grow in the grace of knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (II Peter 3:18).
