We’ve been so blessed this last year to have Lauren Smith as our Children’s Director. Her love for the gospel and devotion to the church, coupled with her many spiritual gifts have proved to be a powerful combination for ministry effectiveness. Which is why we’re really going to miss Lauren in this role going forward.
As most of you now know, Eric and Lauren are expecting baby number 2 later this year! With this blessed new addition, there is an increase in mommy demands at home, and so Lauren has decided to “hang up the jersey” of Children’s Director for the time being. Though we’re deeply sad to see her step away from this role, we couldn’t be more excited about the new stage in life that’s unfolding for her. And, we can’t wait to meet the little one!
Today marks the end of Lauren’s service as Children’s Director, so I want to take a moment to publicly thank her for her wise leadership, unflagging diligence, and tender faithfulness in the organization and execution of our children’s ministry at Cornerstone. I believe you’ll all agree —we are a better church for having her gifts deployed in our midst. We love you, Lauren, and we praise God for all you’ve done to serve the children of Cornerstone.
Thankfully, God always provides for what His church needs. Starting July 10, Martha Brooks will take the reins as our new Children’s Director at Cornerstone! Martha is trained in education and has served in children’s ministry and as a Children’s Ministry Director in a previous church. She is more than qualified for the position, and we’re absolutely thrilled that she has agreed to step into this role. We’re looking forward to see how the Lord will use Martha to further the good thing that’s going on in children’s ministry at Cornerstone.
Since today is the final week of the spring term of Sunday School, let me take a moment to also extend a BIG thank you to all teachers, assistants, and nursery workers who have served this term. Your week in and week out commitment to love our covenant children with the love of Christ (Matthew 19:14) and to train them in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4) is making a difference. I praise God for each and every one of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
